Blockchain Technology in the Era of Digital Transformation

Blockchain technology enables the creation of a distributed environment in which transactions and data are stored in a digital ledger fully replicated between network nodes. It is relying on an environment not controlled by a central authority. Transactions are secure, ubiquitous, and trustworthy as they employ cryptographic principles. The technology is showing tremendous potential in several domains, promising to optimize, transform and disrupt established business processes, products and services. It is slowly integrating itself in domains such as logistics, healthcare, retail, education, etc.

The talk will be dedicated to revel potential applications of the technology, giving an insight into existing projects as well as presenting the challenges, main strengths, and opportunities of its application.

Aida Kamišalić Latifić, PhD

Dr. Aida Kamišalić Latifić is an assistant professor and researcher at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and a member of the Blockchain Lab:UM team. She earned a PhD in Computer Science in 2014. During her PhD studies, she was a visiting researcher at the University Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona, Spain. She has 16 years of experience in research, teaching and project work. Her research interests include database technologies, blockchain technology and medical informatics. She is one of the initiators of the EduCTX initiative. eAward 2019 was awarded to the EduCTX platform recognizing it as the best project in the field of computer science and informatics in the year 2019. She has co-authored several scientific papers published in renowned journals with an impact factor in the field of computer science as well as has applied for a patent in the field of blockchain. She has participated in the preparation and execution of several workshops and seminars on the topics of blockchain technology and databases. She performed lectures as a visiting professor at several European universities and participated in the organization and program committees of professional and scientific conferences. She has been involved in several applied and international projects. In January 2020, she was awarded the Female Engineer of the Year title for 2019.

Tehnologija veriženja blokov v dobi digitalne preobrazbe

Tehnologija veriženja blokov omogoča ustvarjanje porazdeljenega okolja, v katerem se transakcije in podatki shranjujejo v digitalno knjigo, ki je v celoti replicirana med omrežnimi vozlišči. Zanaša se na okolje, ki ga ne nadzoruje centralna avtoriteta. Transakcije so varne, vseprisotne in zaupanja vredne, saj uporabljajo principe kriptografije. Tehnologija kaže ogromen potencial na več področjih, saj obljublja optimizacijo, preoblikovanje in ponastavitev ustaljenih poslovnih procesov, izdelkov in storitev. Prve aplikacije tehnologije je mogoče zaznati v logistiki, zdravstvu, trgovini, izobraževanju itd.

Predavanje bo namenjeno predstavitvi aplikacij potencialne uporabe tehnologije veriženja blokov, vpogledu v obstoječe projekte ter predstavitvi izzivov, glavnih prednosti in priložnosti njene uporabe.

Doc. dr. Aida Kamišalić Latifić

Dr. Aida Kamišalić Latifić je docentka in raziskovalka na Fakulteti za elektrotehniko, računalništvo in informatiko Univerze v Mariboru in članica skupine Blockchain Lab:UM. Doktorirala je leta 2014 s področja računalništva in informatike. Tekom doktorskega študija je bila gostujoča raziskovalka na Univerzi Rovira in Virgili v Tarragoni, Španija. Ima 16 let izkušenj na področju raziskovalnega, pedagoškega in projektnega dela. Njena raziskovalna področja vključujejo podatkovne tehnologije, tehnologijo veriženja blokov in medicinsko informatiko. Je ena izmed začetnikov iniciative EduCTX. Platforma EduCTX je prejela eNagrado 2019 za najboljši projekt s področja računalništva in informatike v letu 2019. Soavtorica je več znanstvenih člankov objavljenih v priznanih revijah z impakt faktorjem na področju računalništva in informatike ter je solastnica prijavljenega izuma s področja tehnologije veriženja blokov. Sodelovala je pri pripravi in izvedbi različnih seminarjev in delavnic na temo podatkovnih shramb in tehnologije veriženja blokov. Kot gostujoča profesorica je predavala na več evropskih univerzah in sodelovala v organizacijskih in programskih odborih strokovnih in znanstvenih konferenc. Sodelovala je pri več mednarodnih in aplikativnih projektih. Januarja 2020 ji je bil podeljen naziv Inženirka leta 2019.
